The Julian Alps and Soča Valley
Two-day excursion
Day 1: Ljubljana-Bled-Bohinj-Kranjska Gora
Drive to Lake Bled. Upon arrival, we will have a boat ride to the island with a church of the seventeenth century. After ringing the wishing bell, we will climb to the castle to enjoy the stunning lake view and its surroundings. We will continue to Lake Bohinj, the largest Slovenian lake. The area is part of the Triglav National Park, famous for clear waters, remnants of virgin forests and rich flora and fauna. Drive to Kranjska Gora and overnight.
Day 2: Soča Valley-Kobarid-Goriška Brda-Ljubljana
After breakfast, we will cross the Julian Alps along a scenic path, contemplating some remains of the First World War. Afterwards, we will follow down the picturesque Soča Valley. Our first stop will be in Kobarid to visit the ossuary dedicated to the Italian soldiers fallen in the I WW. Possibility to visit the Museum of the I WW. We will continue to a small dairy museum that has developed its delicious products from the many-centuries-long dairy tradition of the upper Soča valley. After cheese tasting, we will head for a short and easy walk to Kozjak Waterfall, an interesting natural phenomena not far from Kobarid. Drive to the wine region Goriška Brda. There we will visit the walled town of Šmartno, the lookout tower and one of the wineries to taste some of the best wines. Drive back to Ljubljana.
Pick-up time: 9 am
Back to the hotel: between 5 and 6 pm next day
