Arrival at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Ljubljana. The Slovenian capital is an architectural gem. The mixtures of baroque style with the modernist Art Nouveau and the work of the architect Joze Plecnik are among its special treasures. The city boasts several cultural events and an impressive social and nightlife. In the afternoon, we will check it out walking through the old town. We will climb our way to the castle overlooking the city, to enjoy the wonderful view. Dinner and overnight.
We will wake up early to embark on a hot air balloon flight over Ljubljana and its surroundings. Then the road will lead us towards Skocjan Caves, named World Heritage by UNESCO, where we will take a walking tour to admire its Karst phenomena and a marvelous subterranean canyon. In the afternoon, we will tour the hand-carved bunkers and tunnels on Sveta Gora Mountain, used for communication and defense during the First World War. After conquering the peak, we will visit the Franciscan church located at the summit, which is one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Slovenia; we will end the day at one of the best wineries in Goriska Brda. Dinner and overnight.
This day will explore the Soca river valley and the Julian Alps. We will drive upstream the valley, making the first stop in Bovec where we will refresh in cold Soca rafting or canyoning, depending on the amount of water. In the afternoon we will cross the Julian Alps to get to Kranjska Gora, where we will ride a bike and push it through the valleys of Sava Dolinka and Radovna (about 35 km mostly downhill). Arriving in Bled. Dinner and overnight.
In the morning, we will visit the marvelous canyon Vintgar. After a walk through the canyon, we will move to the idyllic lake Bled, where we will paddle our way around to its island. Free time to swim or jog. Transfer to the Ljubljana Airport.
